... was celebrated on the pace du Mont Blanc in Chamonix yesterday +++ On the podium: two Canadians (Jan Hudec and Eric Guay) representing the Rocky mountain style ski and one Austrian (Romed Baumann) carrying the flag of alpine skiing +++ The North Americans brought great sportmanship and tempeartures below - 15 degrees Celcius to the event; the Europeans a lot of skiing legends  +++ Adrien Duvillard (one of the French ski hall of fame heroes) headed the draw of the starting numbers for today's down hill and slalom combination competition +++ The mountain magic of Chamonix smiled for the last time over Switzerland's Didier Cuche (age 38!) who made the 7th place in his last Kandahar race in Chamonix (after winning Kitzbühl and Garmisch the weekends before) +++ The new generation is ready to take over: 24 year old Beat Feuz came in 4th +++ The final work for the day came from US "ski cowboy" Bode Miller (34!) who came in 8th on Saturday: "Boy: this was a bit too cold for my nose: I froze it at speeds of 100km/h and windchill temperatures well below -25 degrees - but tomorrow, I will wear a mask ... and do better "+++ Vive l'esprit sportif du ski: too cold does not exist ... only not ressed warm enough +++ Should this simple rule not apply at temperatures below -20 Celsius - then stop by the fireplace at the Igloo ... on top of the Megève slopes +++
